John Windhorst: I learned about COPD from my older sister who is on oxygen 24/7 so when I started noticing breathing difficulty, I went to a pulmonary doctor. I found out I was down to 37% capacity. As a high energy person, it took me another 2 years before I quit smoking and even then it was another year before I had to start using inhalers. Though I'm not on oxygen yet, I have had to drastically change my lifestyle - no more high pressure activities. But I have not stopped! I was a registered electrical engineer when I got introduced to computers in the late 50's - and I have been involved in managing, repairing, programming and consulting on computers since then. I'm in my 70's, still working, divorced, four children, and very active in my local Christian church.
