Description

The Newsletter is a feature of the COPD Family of Support Programs launched in December 1999. The purpose of the Newsletter is to provide a concise summary of current information concerning COPD and related health matters. This is achieved by incorporating the most pertinent information gleaned from each facet of the COPD site, newsletters and miscellaneous web sites. We strive to keep focused on research, new trials and developments in current ones. We set forth information on new medicines, or recalls on medicines. We do not provide long dissertations of information which can be found elsewhere; rather we provide a short summary of information and include a reference for those that may wish to do further research. We also provide a synopsis of major concerns expressed by participants in the COPD Family of Support Programs and resulting feedback from other members.

The Editor of the Newsletter is Joan Costello. Her husband of almost 46 years succumbed to COPD in June, 1999. He had been diagnosed two years previously with severe end stage emphysema, and ill for longer than that. Joan told her husband's story in a feature article on the papapoo.com web site.

We will welcome contributions to this Newsletter on subjects of importance to us all. Any hints to share on how we cope with this affliction to make things easier in our daily living are earnestly sought. Please send any information to the editor, Joan Costello

The Newsletter is issued each Friday in two versions: as e-mail sent to each subscriber, and as a web page. Both versions have the same text - just different layouts. Prior issues of the e-mail version are archived and available to the e-mail version's subscribers. The web version is not archived.
